Command radiates

Khess is played on a battlefield at night. Each Leader carries a lantern, and its aura is the ground that lantern lights: inside the light, your pieces change how they move. Everything in the brand comes from that image.

Colour

The interface is night blue, never pure black. Colour appears only where there is light: the gold lantern of white, the blue lantern of black and the ember of check.

  • Ember only warns: check, errors, low time. Leaf only confirms: wins, rating gained.

Type

Three families: cut corners for what you read at a distance, a warm humanist for everything else, and fixed-width digits so clocks never wobble.

  • Chakra Petch

    Headlines, the logo, big numbers.

    Your Leader is in check

  • Figtree

Menus, buttons, chat and the move list.

Inside your aura the Escort runs in straight lines; outside it, it jumps. Read the light before you move.

Pieces

Ivory and obsidian, carved with flat facets lit from the left. The only colour on a piece is the Leader's lantern, so the Leader is found at once.

Boards

Sixty-one cells in three tones, so two neighbours never match. The frame is the outline of the mark at board scale. Stone is the default: neutral, so the auras carry the colour.

Bots

Six opponents with a face and a character, from first steps to master. Each medallion carries as many stripes as its level.

  • Pino Level 1

Just learned how the pieces move. Leaves pieces hanging and forgives yours.

  • Brisa Level 2

Likes to gallop around with her Riders. Spots simple captures, misses most threats.

  • Tizón Level 3

Aggressive and impatient. Will trade anything to get close to your Leader.

  • Vega Level 4

A patient archer. Keeps her Crossbows covered and punishes loose pieces.

  • Orión Level 5

Plays around the auras: knows when your pieces lose their power.

  • Aurelia Level 6

The strongest Khess player we know. Searches deep and rarely blunders.

Motion

Pieces settle; light spreads. Moves are quick and never bounce. What changes the aura takes a little longer, because that is the news.

  • Hover 80 ms The piece rises by 2%.
  • Move 180 ms Slides in a straight line; a jump lifts slightly halfway.
  • Capture 220 ms The captured piece dissolves.
  • Crossbow shot 260 ms A bolt flies to the target, then the capture.
  • The Leader moves 560 ms The aura spreads out from the Leader's cell; badges that change flash once.
  • Check 1.4 s The glow under the Leader pulses twice and stays.
  • Low time under 20 s The clock turns ember.

With reduced motion turned on, pieces appear in place and nothing pulses; check is still marked, without the pulse.

Voice

Khess talks like a good opponent: direct, warm and calm. Short sentences, the important word first, piece names capitalised. No exclamation chains, no capitals for emphasis, no emoji.
