Privacy policy

Last updated:

Khess is a platform for playing Khess, a game on a hexagonal board, against people and bots. It is run by Akorda. This policy explains what data we handle, why, and how you control it.

What data we handle

  • Sign-in data. You can only sign in with Google, Apple or Facebook. From that account we receive an internal identifier, your email (if the provider shares it) and your name (if it shares it). We never receive or store your password.
  • Your profile. Username, country, crest, bio, language and board preferences.
  • Your games. Moves, results, times, ratings and how they change.
  • Game chat. Messages are kept in memory only while the game runs and for a few minutes after it; they are not archived.
  • Technical data. Server logs (IP address, browser, date) to keep the service secure, deleted periodically.

What we use it for

  • Creating and keeping your account and signing you in.
  • Pairing you with players of your level, computing ratings and showing leaderboards.
  • Showing your public profile and game history.
  • Preventing cheating, abuse and technical problems.

The legal basis is providing the service you ask for when you sign up, and our legitimate interest in keeping it safe and fair. We do not sell data, show ads or use third-party analytics.

What is public

Your username, country, crest, bio, ratings and games are visible to anyone. Your email, real name and connected accounts are never shown.

Cookies

We only use necessary cookies: a session cookie that keeps you signed in while you browse, and one that remembers your session for 30 days. No advertising or tracking cookies.

Who we share data with

Google, Apple or Facebook only when you sign in, and the company that hosts the service, acting as a processor. Nobody else, unless the law requires it.

How long we keep it

While you have an account. If you delete it, we remove your profile, connected accounts and sessions. Games already played are kept anonymously, because they are part of your opponents' history.

Your rights

You can access, correct or export your data, or object to its use, by writing to [email protected] . You can delete your account yourself in Settings, under Account. You can also complain to your country's data protection authority.

Children

Khess is not meant for children under 14. If you think a child has created an account, write to us and we will delete it.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date above and announce important changes on the site.
